Adventure
Training |
|
Adventure Training is best described as a
series of sports that get the most from its participants and is
challenging and fun. All cadets can participate in a number of
activities whether a complete novice or an experienced adventurer. All
activities are carried out in a safe manner with an experienced
instructor present. Adventurous Training pursuits that Cornwall ACF has
taken part in recently include:

Climbing

on the 'climbing wall' at Penhale Camp near Newquay in Cornwall.

many cadets take part in. It is fun and may lead on to further courses
and training sometimes abroad.

Duke of
Edinburgh's Award |
|
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is for young people aged between 14 to 25,
regardless of gender, religion, cultural background, physical or
learning ability, and aims to provide them
with an enjoyable and challenging programme of personal development. The
award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others.
There are three separate Awards - Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each requires
the completion of four Sections, Service, Expeditions, Skills and
Physical Recreation, with an additional Residential Project at Gold.
This creates a balanced programme and can encourage participation in
activities covered within the APC syllabus, as undertaken by all Army
cadets.
Each
person who takes place will have their own tailor-made programme to
follow and will reflect their own abilities and interests.

Every
person (not adult) who joins the Army Cadets will work towards
completing the basic training syllabus which will progressively get
harder as they work their way through. It is done in stages, on a star
graded system, which will test their knowledge and confidence and will
earn them the right to wear a star graded badge on their brassard to
show they have completed such stage.
The syllabus includes: Drill &
Turnout, Map & Compass, Fieldcraft, Skill at Arms, Military Knowledge,
First Aid, Expedition Training, Shooting, Physical Achievement, and
Cadet and the Community.

Sports |
|
The
Army Cadet Force has many opportunities for those who like to play
sports. These include Tug-o-war, Football, Rugby, Basketball, Cross
Country, and Knock out Competitions to name a few. Those who have a
natural talent for a certain sport can go on to compete in local or
national championships. Sport is a great way of
developing your leadership and teamwork skills, as well as keeping your
body fit and healthy. |
