RECRUIT TRAINING
Suggested age range: 12-13 yrs

DRILL & TURNOUT:

  • Turnout, care and cleaning of uniform.
  • Inspection, appearance of dress.
  • Inspection of Arms.
  • Preparation and packing of 58 pattern equipment.
  • The aim and purpose of Drill.
  • Positions of Attention, Stand Easy and Stand at Ease.
  • Turnings at the Halt.
  • Compliments, reasons of origins.
  • Saluting to the Front.
  • Marching and Halting in Quick Time.
  • Ranks and badges of ranks.
  • History of the ACF to-date.
  • The Enrolment Ceremony.

SHOOTING & SKILL AT ARMS:

  • Talk on safety including rules for handling and firing an Air Rifle, a .22 Rifle and Cadet GP Rifle.
  • Demonstration on the effects of the Air Rifle and .22 Rifle to show their penetration abilities.
  • Safety, loading and unloading of the Air Rifle.
  • Safety precautions, care and cleaning, ammunition safeguards, sight setting, loading and un-loading of the .22 Rifle.
  • .22 Rifle training tests.
  • Introduction to marksmanship principles.
  • The Air Rifle or .22 Rifle grouping practices.

MAP AND COMPASS:

  • Care and types of maps.
  • How to create a map and follow directions.
  • Practice following and giving directions using a simple map.

FIELDCRAFT:

  • Personal camouflage and concealment.

FIRST AID:

  • Managing an incident.
  • Five point action plan.
  • Getting assistance.
  • How and when to make a 999 call.

EXPEDITION TRAINING:

  • Introduction and Country Code.

PHYSICAL RECREATION:

  • Preliminary training for physical achievement tests.

Summer Camp 2006

Browndown Army Camp Gosport was this year's location for the Annual Camp when over 180 Cadets from Cornwall spent two weeks fulfilling a wide and varying programme of activities.
