The Army Proficiency Certificate Syllabus has 6 levels, or Stars, of training which test's your knowledge and leadership skills as you progress through them. Click on a Star to view the Training.

RECRUIT  1 STAR 2 STAR 3 STAR

4 STAR MASTER CADET

 

3 STAR TRAINING
Suggested age range: 15-16yrs

DRILL & TURNOUT:

  • Revision of drill movements up to 2 star.
  • Words of command and directing files.
  • Cane drill.
  • Ceremonial Drill - Banner Guard.
  • Drilling a squad.

SHOOTING & SKILL AT ARMS:

  • Revision of GP Rifle.
  • Introduction to the LSW.
  • SUSAT.
  • Strip, Assemble and Clean.
  • Load and Unload.
  • Holding and firing.
  • Mechanisms IA's and stoppages.
     
  • SHOOTING
  • Cadet GP rifle course.
  • LSW Course.
  • Target Rifle Course.
  • To achieve an improved score with the air or .22 rifle application courses.

MAP AND COMPASS:

  • Position Finding.
  • Plotting position.
  • Setting a compass for a night march.
  • Finding north by the Pole Star.
  • Day and night navigation exercises.

FIELDCRAFT:

  • Revision of all field craft including 2 star.
     
  • AMBUSHES
  • Ambushes - organisation into groups, communications, springing.
     
  • SECTION BATTLE DRILLS
  • Section Battle drills.
  • Section Attacks
     
  • ORDERS
  • Explanation of orders.
  • Extraction of orders.

FIRST AID:

  • OPTION A
     
  • The first of two parts of a recognised adult first aid competition.
     
  • OPTION B
     
  • The second of two parts of a recognised youth first aid qualification.

EXPEDITION TRAINING:

  • Training and preparation for the three star expedition. (25miles, 2 nights camping out).

PHYSICAL RECREATION:

  • Participate in an activity in the handbook for a minimum period, attempting to gain standards where appropriate.

CADET IN THE COMMUNITY:

  • Spend at least 15 hours on community service over a 6 month period as an individual. This may be done in either the cadets time or as part of a detachment activity (A certificate of attendance is required).

    OR
     
  • Take part in a community project organised by the detachment over a period of at least 15 during training.

JUNIOR CADET INSTRUCTORS CADRE:

  • To teach the senior cadet how to instruct up to and including 1 star level in the following subjects:
     
  • Methods of instruction.
  • Drill, Turnout and military knowledge.
  • Skill at arms.
  • Map Work.
  • Field Craft.

Summer Camp 2006

Browndown Army Camp Gosport was this year's location for the Annual Camp when over 180 Cadets from Cornwall spent two weeks fulfilling a wide and varying programme of activities.
