The Army Proficiency Certificate Syllabus has 6 levels, or Stars, of training
which test's your knowledge and leadership skills as you progress through
them. Click on a Star to view the Training.
RECRUIT

TRAINING
Suggested age range: 14-15yrs
DRILL & TURNOUT:
- FOOTDRILL
- Revision of recruit and 1 star drill movements.
- Changing step in quick time.
- Marking time in quicktime.
- Left and right turns on the march.
- Parading and inspecting a squad - moving off and falling out.
- RIFLE DRILL
- Attention, Stand at ease, Stand easy and change arms from the shoulder.
- Slope arms from shoulder and shoulder arms from slope.
- Ground arms from slope arms and slope arms from ground arms.
- Present arms from the slope, take up arms from the present.
- Saluting at the halt (Slope position) and saluting on the march (Slope
position).
- Familiarisation with DCLI history.
SHOOTING & SKILL AT ARMS:
- Revision of GP.
- Aiming off and miss drills.
- Firing from other positions.
- Use of cover, carriage of the weapon and reaction to enemy fire.
- GP Rifle grouping tests.
OR
- 22 Rifle application course.
MAP AND COMPASS:
- Relief and vertical interval.
- Introduction to the light weight compass.
- Types of bearings.
- Measuring magnetic bearing with light weight compass.
- Setting a map with a compass.
- Conversion of a grid to a magnetic bearing and vise versa.
- Preparation of a route card.
- Navigation exercises by day.
FIELDCRAFT:
- Ground and cover.
- Judging distance.
- Elementry Observation.
- Recognition of targets.
- Fire control orders.
- Section organisation and placei nthe battalion.
- Section formations.
- Field signals.
- Fire and movement.
- PATROLS
- Patrol formations - signals.
- Aims and types of patrols.
- Reconnaissance patrol - action on objective.
- Sequence of action to mount, carryout and de-brief a patrol.
- Harbour drills.
FIRST AID:
- OPTION A
- Obtaining a recognised youth first aid qualification.
- OPTION B
- Completing a the first part of a modular based recognised youth aid
qualification.
PHYSICAL RECREATION:
- Participate in an activity in the handbook for a minimum period,
attempting to gain standards where appropriate.
CADET IN THE COMMUNITY:
- Talk by a statutory service member from the local area (Police, Fire,
Ambulance, Coastguard.
- Create a street plan and mark on all services in the area.
- Talk on the DoE by county representative.
- Take part in at least TWO group projects within the local area.

Summer Camp 2006
Browndown Army Camp
Gosport was this year's location for the Annual Camp when over 180
Cadets from Cornwall spent two weeks fulfilling a wide and varying
programme of activities.
